Eject Finished Rotor: Gate & Runner Removal

If the pin gating technique is used to produce the rotors, the gates and runners will be removed in the casting tool before ejection, and any additional de-gating will not be necessary. However, if edge gating is used, the die-cast rotors will be ejected from the casting die with the gates and runners still attached. In this latter case, it is recommended to use one of the following techniques to remove the runners:

  • Use a conventional trim tool and trim press to shear off the runners
  • Saw cut the runners
