Optimization of Motor Design: Copper Metal Properties

It is recommended that alloys C10100 or C11000 be used for die-cast copper rotors. The excellent electrical conductivity of either of these alloys will produce a significant reduction in I 2R losses in the rotor's conductor bars as compared to standard electrical grade aluminum. The electrical properties of these two alloys are listed below. The composition of these coppers, together with the impact of purity on electrical properties, is provided in Select Copper Material section, while solidus and liquidus temperatures are listed in Melt Copper section.
