Training Program for Corrosion Prevention Through Proper Design & Installation

Since primitive man first discovered copper, the red metal has constantly served the advancement of civilization. Modern technology, recognizing that no material is superior to copper for conveying water, has reconfirmed it as the prime material for such purposes. Years of trouble free service in installations here and abroad have built a new reputation for copper piping in its modern form: light, strong, corrosion resistant tube. It serves all kinds of buildings: single-family homes, high rise apartments, industrial, commercial and office buildings of all shapes and sizes.

Today more than 5,000 years after the use of copper pipe in the ancient pyramids of Egypt advances are still being made in the use and application of this time-honored material. New materials and standardized methods of installation have been developed to enhance the time-proven durability and corrosion resistance of copper piping systems.

As in many cases, we can be our own worst enemy in the durability of the products that we design, specify and install. To prevent that from happening this program focuses on the identification, causes, prevention and rehabilitation of common piping system corrosion problems. New standards for water-flushable soldering fluxes and a recommended practice for soldering copper tube and fittings will be introduced.
