BICSI Conference Session to Address the Importance of Proper Grounding, Bonding and Wiring to Alleviate Power Problems
NEW YORK, NY— Exceeding the minimal requirements of the National Electrical Code is imperative in mission-critical facilities to ensure there are no power failures or outages. David Brender, the national program manager for electrical applications at the Copper Development Association (CDA), will discuss how improvements in bonding, grounding and wiring can alleviate power problems at little cost at the BICSI Winter Conference & Exhibition next month.
“There are many components that are involved with optimizing bonding, grounding and wiring in data centers that go beyond the minimum National Electrical Code,” Brender said. “These improvements will not only save a business from having future power issues, but it will also save them money in the long run.”
In this three-hour presentation scheduled for Jan. 23, Brender will focus on several topics related to electrical techniques including: wiring of typical circuits, effects of poor power quality, ground resistance, surge suppression (TVSS), corrosion issues and several others. He will also examine case histories and discuss recommended practices for electrical professionals.
The BICSI Winter Conference & Exhibition offers the information and communication technology (ICT) community to share expertise in revolutionary technologies and solutions within the ICT industry. The event’s presentations will showcase relevant, best practices that cover existing and emerging topics in the design, installation and maintenance of ICT systems. The event is taking place Jan. 22-26, 2017 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida.
Brender is an expert on grounding and bonding and has been giving presentations for CDA on electrical topics for more than 14 years. Brender is also a principal member of Panel 5 of the National Electrical Code, a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a life member of the Association of Energy Engineers.
