Copper Development Association Adds Vice President

NEW YORK - Copper Development Association Inc. president, Robert M. Payne, announced the recent addition of Harold T. Michels of Manhasset, New York, as vice president for technical and environmental services.

Dr. Michels will have a primary responsibility for the development and execution of CDA technical services to member companies and end-users of copper based products. He will also manage product specific environmental programs.

Michels' background includes almost 30 years of service with Inco Limited, moving from research metallurgist through various sales positions to vice president, Inco Venture Capital Management. He further served as president of the LaQue Center for Corrosion Technology Inc., developing it from a captive, corporation-supported laboratory to a profit-generating business serving both industrial and governmental customers. Most recently, he was director of strategic planning and business development for Inco. He holds a Masters degree in Metallurgy and a Doctorate in Material Science, both from New York University.
