For this 3-story, private home located on Daniel Island in Charleston, South Carolina, the owners chose to add a copper roof for its unique details, natural properties and longevity, which requires little to no maintenance for the lifetime of the system. After the architect designed the expansive home, it was clear that copper would enhance the architectural beauty in addition to having the distinct properties to accomplish the homeowner's goals. The challenging tear-drop copper roof detail truly makes this home stand out! The entire roofing system utilizes 16-ounce, 1-inch, standing seam copper that was double locked and hand seamed. All the joints and valleys were pre-tinned and soldered.
