Interior railings - non-ferrous, non-forged
This custom stair railing and gate system features antiqued and patinated bronze. Designed with intricate detail and high security in mind, this system provides a reliable safety solution while making a visual splash. This corporate space showcases approximately 140-linear feet of patinated bronze cladding, curved railing, art panels and balcony railing. A total of 8 art panels were custom fabricated at three different radii. The railing was fabricated from solid bronze bars, patinated and accented with polished bronze custom castings. The accent rings were cut from plate and polished. Posts were captured by custom-fit escutcheon plates milled from solid bronze bar stock and rolled to required radii. All parts were attached with hidden fasteners and welds. The art panels were fabricated from custom castings and were hand polished or patinated. The infill mesh was cut from solid bronze plate. All polished bronze was finished to a #8 finish. Patinated and polished parts received different matte lacquers to reveal desired colors and sheens, so the different finishes were taped off and shot separately after assembly. This project was completed in 8,100 man-hours.
Gates / doors - non-forged
Six top-rolling gates on a track system designed to close in width of one panel. This locking gate system was designed to secure a corporate office building lobby. The gate frames were fabricated from steel tubes and clad with antiqued bronze. The pickets were antiqued solid bronze and accented by polished bronze custom castings. The accent rings and fleur-de-lis were custom water-jet cut and polished. All parts were attached with hidden fasteners where possible. The hidden support steel and track was part of the contract and had to be perfectly aligned so the gate sections would open and close with minimal clearance without damaging adjacent parts after installation. All polished bronze was finished to a #8 finish. This project was completed in approximately 8,000 man-hours.
