Cycle and Monitor Press: Intensification Pressures & Solidification
Most of the prototype copper rotors die-cast during the ICA/CDA project were produced using intensification pressures and solidification times in the ranges listed in Table 11.3.1.
| Parameter | Motor Size | Values |
|---|---|---|
| Intensification Pressure | Fractional | 400-600 bar |
| >1 kW | 750-920 bar | |
| Solidification Range | All | 12-18 seconds |
Experience with the smaller rotors showed that high values of intensification pressure could actually deform the lamination slots, leading to increases in stray load losses and difficulty with assembly. Therefore, lower intensification pressures were used with the smaller rotors.
