Masters In Clay Exhibition

Masters In Clay presents seven globally known artists, each with a unique approach to working with clay. On display are bronze works by Peter Voulkos, a sculptor who became interested in the lost wax method of bronze casting, and went on to create monumental works.

Medieval and Renaissance Treasures from the Victoria and Albert Museum

Thirty-five rare treasures from the Victoria and Albert Museum that are seldom lent will be on display, including Donatello's bronze Winged Putto with Fantastic Fish, a pair of gilt-bronze statuettes of prophets by Hubert Gerhard, and the Codex Forster 1, one of Leonardo da Vinci's treasured notebooks. Most have not  been previously exhibited in New York.

Weekend Copper Workshop

This intensive workshop examines basic copper working techniques, culminating in the completion of a copper bowl, tray or box.
In collaboration with instructor Marsha Trattner, students will individualize their projects, using well-defined processes such as cutting, drilling, soldering, bending, folding, forming, riveting, stamping, texturing, and patination. No prior metalworking experience is required.

Tiffany Stained Glass Class

Learn the fundamentals of the copper foil technique for producing stained glass that was developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Instructed by Carol Russell, Students will learn how to cut glass, and then move on to shaping, grinding and soldering to produce a stained glass panel. Each student will complete two window panels during the course. The second piece will be your own design.

Bronze Casting Workshop at the Mendocino Art Center

Taught by Paul Graf, Elizabeth Dante and Tom Brown, this five-day workshop dovetails with the Rubber Mold Making workshop (August 11 – 12), giving the student an opportunity to complete the full progression of clay or pattern to finished bronze sculpture. Instructors will cover wax techniques, investment, metal chasing, patination and much, much more.
