Architecture Design Handbook
The Copper Development Association Inc. (CDA) is the advanced engineering and market development arm of the copper and brass industry in the United States. Its Canadian counterpart is the Canadian Copper & Brass Development Association (CCBDA). The members of these two organizations include copper producers worldwide, as well as brass mill, wire mill and foundry fabricators of copper and copper alloys with domestic production facilities.
These organizations are the central authoritative sources of technical data and information on the selection, fabrication and application of copper metals.
This Handbook is a comprehensive resource presenting as much information about copper's properties, existing technology and application to the educational design and construction field as presently exists. The Handbook is part of a multi-faceted program geared to the student, architect or contractor who is involved in the design or installation of copper, brass or bronze as an architectural element.
The Handbook is planned as an ever growing document. Research and development into copper and its alloys will continuously broaden their use and provide on-going information about technological advancement leading to broadened understanding of these metals' architectural applications. As such, the Handbook is utilized as a vehicle for disseminating this information on a continuing basis.
CDA and CCBDA maintain extensive publications, catalogs and libraries available to assist architects, engineers, contractors, builders and all others who are involved in the selection and use of copper, brass and bronze products. CDA's Copper Data Center and CCBDA's Library provide up-to-date access to the world's technical literature on copper and its alloys. These are fundamental resources for the Associations' on-going research programs and advisory services.
Finally, the Associations administer an on-going architectural program for designers, specifiers and installers seeking aid in detailing or installing copper architectural products. This program is available to all segments of the industry via document review sessions, seminars or individualized technical sessions. This service has proven to be invaluable in ensuring good design practices leading to trouble-free installations of architectural copper and copper alloy products.
The Handbook comes with a detailed Table of Contents which provides direct links to each of the individual sections. This same link is also provided in every page of the Handbook in the right sidebar.
In addition, CAD detail files are available for the designs shown in Section 4 - Architectural Details. Further information on these CAD files and design details can be found in that section.
