Located at 19-21 Dundas Square Toronto, the Hermant Building recently received a facade restoration which included the recreation of a triple door entryway with bronze doors, transoms and decorative pressed bronze finishes. The original doors had been in place until about 1935 and were removed in a renovation of this historic building and replaced with standard aluminum and glass doors. Heather & Little was contracted to recreate the doors as they were originally built, working from a single hand-drawn historic drawing with practically no details. As a designated landmark building, the materials and fabrication had to be an exact duplication, including hand-made bronze hardware and decorative pressed bronze trims. The bronze was originally chosen for its beautiful appearance and longevity. CJ Rush Industries built the frames, structural elements and door cladding. Heather & Little hand carved several patterns for the decorative molds and pressed all the decorative trims, along with 16 custom door handles made from 3/4-inch diameter solid bronze bar.
